Ryan 50th

Mr. and Mrs. John H. "Jack" Ryan of Mineral Ridge (formerly of Niles) celebrated their 50th anniversary Aug. 18 at a party at the Fifth Season Banquet Center in Mineral Ridge hosted by their son Scott (Lilla) of Cuyahoga Falls and daughter Chris (Jerry) Walters of Mineral Ridge.

Jack and the former Ramonda "Monnie" Pickett were married Aug. 18, 1962, at the United Methodist Church in Union City, Ind., by the Rev. Darrell Taggert.

They have four grandchildren, Cassie and Lexi Ryan, and Jackie and Jarrett Walters.

Jack Ryan retired in 1995 after 33 years as an English teacher at Niles McKinley High School and in 2010 as a part-time English instructor and supervisor of student teachers in English language arts at Youngstown State University.

Monnie Ryan retired in 2004 after 14 years as managing editor of the Business Journal, Youngstown, where she continues to serve as a columnist and online editor. She also is a volunteer long-term care ombudsman for the Area XI Agency on Aging.

The Ryans enjoy travel and photography.
