VALLEY LEGACY NOMINATIONS ANNOUNCED: Nominees have been named for this year's Valley Legacy Awards.
Twenty-nine nominations were received from Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties.
The 2012 nominees for Outstanding Senior Award are Diana Bauman, Lock P. Beachum Sr., Carol Bigelow, Ron Borngesser, Linda and Marlene Caldwell, Shirley Combs, Ronald and Dodie George, Anne Grhim, George Grim, Ruth Jean Hawkins, James Herriman, Shirley and William Kohuth, Marian Lipp, Penny Lippiatt, Donald J. Marsco, Henry Nemenz, Jean Parke, Beverly Poidmore Pariza, Anne Schweinfurth, Vincent E. Schuyler, Sarita Tate, Ruth Telford, Lana VanAuker, Sally Wehmer and John Wolboldt.
Outstanding Advocate for Seniors Award nominees are Thomas E. Albani Jr., Becky Borman, David Mirkin, Vincent E. Schuyler, Sarita Tate and Charles Wilkins.
Bios and photographs will be posted to the Shepherd of the Valley website and Valley Legacy Facebook page. The nominees will be honored and award recipients announced at the Valley Legacy Awards Luncheon on Oct. 11 at Avion on the Water Banquet Center, Canfield. Invitations will be available after Sept. 1.

PROGRAM SEEKS VOLUNTEERS: The Guardian Angels of Ohio, a volunteer program of the Trumbull County Probate Court, is looking for volunteers.
Angel volunteers receive training to become advocates who reach out as friends to seniors who may need a friendly phone call, a visit in a nursing home or a visit at home. Angels also are involved in planning special events for seniors such as for health fairs and Make A Difference Day projects.

The TRUMBULL COUNTY NUTRITION PROGRAM FOR THE ELDERLY is provided by the Trumbull County Office of Elderly Affairs and operates nutrition sites at 11 locations throughout Trumbull County. These sites provide a meal and the opportunity for socialization. Donations will be accepted.
