BATAVIA, N.Y. - The Mahoning Valley Scrappers committed an error that opened the door for Batavia as the Muckdogs won 4-1 on Tuesday night.
In the bottom of the second inning, Scrappers starter Luis Morel recorded a strikeout before surrendering a walk and a single. Reggie Williams grounded to short for what should have been a double play, but Scrappers shortstop Dorssys Paulino committed an error to load the bases.
After Morel struck out the next batter, Stave Ramos grounded back to the mound, but Morel was unable to beat Ramos to first base, scoring the first run of the game. Breyvic Valera then hit a three-run double to make the score 4-0.
Hunter Jones accounted for Mahoning Valley's only run in the fifth with an RBI groundout.
The Scrappers and Muckdogs will continue their series tonight at 7:05.
