Robert Cardinali 1947-2012

CHAMPION - Robert Cardinali, 65, passed away Saturday, Aug. 18, 2012, at Vibra Hospital in Warren after a brief illness.

He was born July 1, 1947, in Trenton, N.J., the son of the late Joseph and Frances Sclavi Cardinali.

In 1965, Robert was a member of the first graduating class of John F. Kennedy High School in Warren.

Upon graduation, he was trained as a volunteer fireman for Howland Township.

He entered the U.S. Air Force in 1966 serving as a fireman at Hahn Air Force Base in West Germany. He was discharged in 1969 and was a fireman for 10 years and a volunteer for 23 years for Champion Township.

In 1979, he was hired by the Vienna Air Force Base as a fireman, retiring in 2002. He had been chief of the Trumbull County HAZMAT team and coordinated training for firefighting at the Trumbull County Joint Vocational School Adult Education.

He was a member of St. William Catholic Church in Champion.

He is survived by his wife, Pamela Conte Cardinali, whom he married April 25, 1970; his son, Michael Cardinali of Champion; and his brother, James Cardinali of Howland.

Calling hours will be 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Staton-Borowski Funeral Home in Warren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. William Catholic Church in Champion. Family and friends will meet at the church.

Burial will be in All Souls Cemetery in Bazetta.
