On display in the Oakland Center for the Arts' Star Gallery during the run of ''Gloria Birnbaum's Broadway Debut'' will be ''Scenes - The Theater Drawings of Artist Paul Kimpel.''

Kimpel, who died in 2006 at age 77, worked for 40 years as a set and costume designer at the Youngstown Playhouse, and he spent 25 years writing and directing children's theater productions for Kent State University Trumbull Campus Summer Stock.

The Howland resident also was a founding member of the Trumbull Art Guild and was involved with Trumbull New Theatre.

The drawings - on loan from his wife, Kadey Kimpel - feature work Kimpel created for various stage productions, and this is the first time the work has been exhibited publicly.
