NORTH JACKSON - One person was arrested and more may follow after police raided a methamphetamine lab here Thursday afternoon.
Elias Lee Bray, 31, is in Mahoning County Jail on a charge of trafficking in methamphetamine after he was arrested following the serving of a search warrant at 2460 S. Salem Warren Road about 1:30 p.m. Thursday.
Serving the warrant was the Mahoning Valley Law Enforcement Task Force along with the Trumbull Ashtabula Group drug task force.
Sheriff's Sgt. Larry McLaughlin, who also is a member of the MVLETF, said the people running the lab were making enough of the drug to use themselves and also to sell.
McLaughlin said the warrant was served following a three-month investigation after complaints about the drug in the area.
He said more charges will be filed against Bray and probably others. He said in his 10 years on the task force, this is only the fifth or sixth meth lab they have found in Mahoning County.
''It's not a big problem yet,'' McLaughlin said. ''But they're all dangerous, and we do not want them here.''
He said the drug was sold at the home and that police will be going after the people who have been supplying the ingredients to manufacture the drug.
Children were found at the home when police were there, and McLaughlin said police think they may have been living there.
Ingredients for making methamphetamine were found during the raid.
Other agencies that helped out were the Mahoning County Sheriff's Office, the Jackson Township Police Department and the Youngstown office of the Drug Enforcement Administration.
