OPEN HOUSE PLANNED: The Creative Learning Workshop Life Beyond School vocational and transitional high school program will hold an open house from 3 to 5 p.m. Aug. 9 at the center, 2460 Elm Road, Suite 400, Warren. PARTICIPANTS SOUGHT FOR GRILL-OFF: Relay for Life Team Rebelz will hold its second annual chicken grill-off Aug. 25 at Harding Park in Hubbard. Participants are needed for the grill-off, which can include restaurants, businesses, other Relay teams, church groups, individuals or anyone interested.
The cost to join is $15 plus supplies. Those interested may call Melanie at 330-207-6647 to receive the registration packet and information sheet. The deadline to enter is Aug. 10. The grill-off is limited to 25 participants.
Five judges to judge the grill-off are needed.
LEAGUE OFFERED FOR SPECIAL NEEDS ADULTS: TOP Soccer is a soccer league for special needs children ages 4 to 18. There are accommodations for the players in wheelchairs, players with assistive devices, players who have some trouble moving around the field and understanding all the game's strategies.

NETWORK SEEK PARTICIPANTS: The HandsOn Volunteer Network will offer trainings from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. beginning Aug. 13 at the Girard MultiGenerational Center, 443 Trumbull Ave., Girard.
The VRC training will conclude at 3 p.m. The cost of this training is $25. Class size is limited and reservations are required at 330-782-5877. The training includes developing a Continuity of Operations Plan that will allow agencies to prepare and resume service after an emergency or natural disaster.
A COOP plan addresses emergencies from an all hazards approach and establishes policy to direct the relocation of personnel and resources to an alternate facility capable of supporting operations.
BEAT THE HEAT AT CENTER: During the hot summer days, the public is invited to cool off from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday to Friday at the Salvation Army, 270 Franklin St. S.E., Warren. Hygiene supplies are available. The service is offered year-round during the hours of 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Donations of water, snacks, and hygiene products are always welcomed to help individuals in need.
