KENT - Mary Katherine Shaw, 87, died peacefully of natural causes in the early afternoon of Sunday, July 29, 2012, surrounded by her children, family and a friend.
She was born there on March 25, 1925, in Warren, and was a lifelong Warren resident. She was a descendent of an early Ohio pioneer family in Jefferson County. She lived her last seven years near family in Kent. She was the youngest of five children of Overton Lisby and Margaret Horace Lisby of Warren, and outlived them all.
Mary was a member of St. Mary's Parish and a graduate of Warren G. Harding High School. She worked at Ohio Lamp in the 1940s and at Trumbull Memorial Hospital later in life.

She was married to Thomas G. Shaw Sept. 11, 1948, and they were married for nearly 60 years. Thomas preceded her in death in 2008.
She placed her family and good friends at the center of her life, and she will be long-remembered for her strength of character.
She leaves behind five children, Thomas (Jay) Shaw of Kent, Margaret (Richard) Bednar of Gainesville, Fla., Richard (Linda) Shaw of Pittsburgh, Katherine Ann Daniels of Dania, Fla., and Michael (Patricia) Shaw of Jacksonville, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Calling hours will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Carl W. Hall Funeral Home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, where the Rev. Bernard Schmalzried will officiate.
Burial will be held at St. Mary's Cemetery in Warren.
The family requests donations be made in her memory to the Haven of Rest Ministries, 175 E. Market St., P.O. Box 547, Akron, OH 44309.
