WARREN - Mariano "Blackie" DeCapito, 88, died at 9:49 a.m. Sunday, July 29, 2012, at Trumbull Memorial Hospital.
He was born Sept. 28, 1923, in Warren, the son of John and Ann Spaganola DeCapito.
Mariano was a 1942 graduate of Warren G. Harding High School and retired in 1985 from Republic Wholesale Co. as a salesman after 32 years.

He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served in the Asiatic and European Theater two years merchant ship, Destroyer USS Knight DMS.
He was a member of St. Mary's Church.
He was an avid sports fan, especially of the Warren Raiders and the Cleveland Browns, and enjoyed being and working outdoors.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Pike DeCapito; and children, Gary DeCapito of Warren and Patricia (James) Helmick-Kilgore of Champion.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Samuel, John and Frank J. DeCapito.
Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Peter Rossi & Son Memorial Chapel.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Church with the Rev. Bernard Schmalzried officiating.
Burial will be in All Souls Cemetery, Cortland, with full military honors.
