The engagement and upcoming marriage of Clara Lauritsen Shea and Christopher William Totten are being announced by the couple's parents, Beverly Shea of Ashland, Va., and William and Cynthia Totten of Warren. The bride-elect is also the daughter of the late Russell Shea.
A 2005 graduate of the Maggie L. Walker Governor's School for Government and International Studies, Miss Shea received her undergraduate degree in international affairs from the George Washington University and just completed her master's degree in Arabic at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. The bride-elect's work will focus on the Middle East.
A 2003 graduate of John F. Kennedy High School, Mr. Totten received both his undergraduate and master's degrees in architecture from the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. The groom-elect is an assistant professor of game design at George Mason University in Fairfax, Va., and is also a published design author.
The couple are planning a fall 2012 wedding in Washington, D.C.
