Leon D. Lenney 1929-2012

WARREN - Leon D. "Ike" Lenney, 82, died Thursday, July 19, 2012, at his residence.

He was born Aug. 26, 1929, in Champion, the son of the late Lee D. Lenney and the late Eleanor Crouch Lenney.

He was a graduate of Champion High School and worked at Copperweld Steel as a heater for 42 years until his retirement.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during the Korean War.

He enjoyed bowling and golfing, and was an avid fan of the Cleveland Indians and Cleveland Cavaliers. He was formerly a member of the Champion Kiwanis Club and the Lions Club.

He is survived by his wife, Dora Herlinger Lenney of Warren, whom he married Nov. 21, 1959; two daughters, Debra (Mark) Nolfi and Linda Willis, both of Champion; three grandchildren, Danielle Nolfi Estes, Hailey (Chris D'Avanzo) Montagna and David Willis; three great-grandchildren, Joseph, Rock and Vincent Estes; and two siblings, Kenneth Lenney of Cortland and Wilma Perniece of Warren.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Charles J. and David L. Lenney; three brothers, Orlo, Elwood and Francis Lenney; and a sister, Inez Stevens.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Carl W. Hall Funeral Home, where the Rev. Marvin A. Barney will officiate. Friends may call one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will be in Champion Township Cemetery.
