YOUNGSTOWN - The 2012 Universal Cafe summer arts and lecture series has started for the summer, providing speakers and entertainment at 7 p.m. Mondays at the First Unitarian Universalist Church, 1105 Elm St., Youngstown.
The series kicked off this week with a panel discussion on revitalizing Youngstown which featured Bill D'Avignon, director of Youngstown Community Development Agency, and others discussing unique aspects and opportunities for revitalizing Youngstown.
Other scheduled events are:
- Monday a panel discussion will be held on the language of social justice movements, moderated by Staughton Lynd. Items to be discussed include fracking, women's rights and prison reform.
- July 23 will be a discussion on sex education in schools along with healthy relationships and prevention of domestic violence / abuse.
- July 30 will feature a program by the Dana Gypsy Ensemble with students from Youngstown State University's Dana School of Music.
Doors open 6:30 p.m., followed by program at 7 p.m. A $3 donation is requested.
