Report: Minivan slams into horse and buggy
MESOPOTAMIA - Charges could be filed against a Middlefield man accused of crashing his minivan head-on into a horse and buggy that contained seven people early Sunday.
Reports said Anthony M. Seaman, 30, was driving his 1998 Plymouth Voyager van about 1:11 a.m. Sunday on Bundysburg Road when he drove left of center into the oncoming lane and struck the horse and buggy driven by Mervin J. Miller, 19.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol said the horse died on impact and Seaman was taken to Geauga Hospital in Chardon by ambulance.
Seaman refused treatment at the scene and was later taken to the Geauga Hospital by a family member, reports said.
OSHP said it would release the names of the passengers after notifying family members.
Charges are pending and the investigation is ongoing, OSHP said.
Hubbard man critical after motorcycle crash
LIBERTY - A 21-year-old Hubbard man was in critical condition Sunday after his motorcycle struck the back of a car, ejecting him.
Aaron J. Globeck was driving southbound and ''erratically'' about 10:10 p.m. Saturday on state Route 193 on his 2003 Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle when he struck a 2002 Dodge Neon driven by Toni J. Sterling, 35, of Liberty, according to reports.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol said Sterling's car slid off the road, struck a curb and came to rest in a ditch. She was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center and was treated for minor injuries.
Alcohol and speed appear to be factors in the crash, OSHP reported. Investigators said Globeck was weaving between lanes before he struck the back of Sterling's car.
Globeck was wearing a helmet and Sterling her seatbelt.
Charges are pending, reports said.
