Andrew Baker, son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Baker of Howland, received the Eagle Scout Award at a Court of Honor held on May 12, at the Warren Elks Lodge 295.
Andrew is a member of Greater Western Reserve Council Boy Scout Troop 101 with Scoutmaster Jim Potjunas. The Eagle Charge was given by Dr. Terry Puet and the award was presented by Mr. Jim Potjunas, who asked Mrs. Baker to pin the badge on her son's uniform.
A miniature Eagle pin was given to his mother and an Eagle tie tack was presented to his father. The prayer was offered by Dave Young.
Andrew joined Troop 101 in 2006 after earning his Arrow of Light with Cub Pack 101. With Troop 101, Andrew has held leadership positions of Senior Patrol Leader, Assistant Senior Patrol Leader, Patrol Leader.
Andrew earned a total of 26 merit badges and for his Eagle Service Project he raised a telescopic flagpole, installed a solar light, and put in landscaping at Cortland S.C.O.P.E. Center.
A reception followed the ceremony at Blessed Sacrament Church. Andrew is a student at John F. Kennedy High School where he is pursuing studies in college prep. Future ambitions are Air Force Academy and a medical profession.
Troop 101 meets every Monday night at the Elks Lodge, 3851 Youngstown Rd, and is open to all boys, age 11-18.
