Helen Kolacz 1916-2012

NILES - Helen Fenyo Kolacz, 95, passed away peacefully at 5:07 a.m. Wednesday, July 4, 2012, at Trumbull Memorial Hospital, following a short illness.

She was born Sept. 5, 1916, in Niles, the daughter of Stephen and Bertha Berinche Fenyo, and lived in Niles all her life.

She was a graduate of Niles McKinley High School and worked at the Ravenna Arsenal during World War II.

A lifelong member of St. Stephen Church, she enjoyed reading and cherished the time spent with her grandchildren.

She was proud of her Hungarian heritage and enjoyed listening to Hungarian music.

Helen is survived by her children, Ilona (Steve) Kocan of Broadview Heights, Julie Modarelli of Boardman, Dr. Vilma (Allan Belanger) Kolacz-Belanger of Liberty, John Stephen (Cindy) Kolacz of Chardon and Marta (Nick) Gudz of Twinsburg; six grandchildren, Kristen (Josh Cole) Modarelli of Philadelphia, Emily and Sarah Kolacz of Chardon, and John, Andrew and Stephen Gudz of Twinsburg.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John H. Kolacz, whom she married in 1946 and who died on Jan. 22, 1992; and three sisters, Irma Lefter, Ethel Orban and Ella Peyko.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Stephen Church, preceded by prayers at 10:45 a.m. at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home. The Rev. Thomas Kraszewski will be the celebrant. Burial will be in Niles City Cemetery.
