Eugene L. Halyama 1930-2012

NILES - Eugene L. Halyama, 81, of Summit Street, passed away at 9 p.m. Sunday, July 1, 2012, at Forum Trumbull Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Halyama was born Dec. 1, 1930, in Smithon, Pa., the son of Ernest and Minnie Feevay Halyama, moving to this area in 1969.

He had been employed for more than 24 years by the General Motors automobile plant and was a member of the Mineral Ridge VFW. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.

Eugene was survived by his wife, the former Dolores Fronzaglio, whom he married Aug. 26, 1954; a son, Roy E. (Julie) of Pittsburgh; four daughters, Sandy M. Prine of Niles, Valerie D. (Rick) Shreckengost, Terri A. (Brad) Phillips, all of Blufton, S.C., and Cheryl Biddle of Niles; nine grandchildren, Laura, Christopher, Jerica, Jennifer, Jamie, James, Jack, Morgan and Quenten; and eight great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Gavin, Ava, Nicholas, Trenton, Sierra, Brendon and Brady.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ernest and Carl; two sisters, Ella Shawley and Lucille Harris; and a great-grandson, Daniel Vincent Joseph O'Malley.

Friends may call 3 to 6 p.m. Thursday at the Robert P. McDermott Memorial Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Niles First Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Cindy Carlisle officiating. Friends may also call a half hour prior to the services at the church.

Burial will be in Kerr Cemetery.
