Fourth fest set for McDonald

McDONALD HOLDS FIREFIGHTER FESTIVAL: A parade on the Fourth of July will kick off the annual McDonald Fire Department Homecoming Festival to be held Wednesday to Saturday. The parade is at 6 p.m. Wednesday. Fireworks will be at 11 p.m. Saturday. There will be food, ride and games in the park off Ohio Avenue. Ride tickets are four for $5.

SUMMER YOUTH PROGRAM SET AT CENTER: The Girard Multigenerational Center will hold its summer youth program with camp July 16 to 20 for children ages 5 to 8 and July 23 to 27 for children ages 9 to 12. Cost of the camp is underwritten by the Girard Homecoming Committee. Pre-registration is required and ends July 11. Space is limited. Those attending should bring a sack lunch. LECTURE SERIES: The Youngstown State University Alumni Lecture Series will present "Characteristics of American Organized Crime" with Dr. Fred Viehe, professor of American Urban History, at 7 p.m. July 12 at Tod Hall meeting room. The lecture will offer a glimpse into the motives and ramifications of organized crime. Admission is $5 alumni / society members and $7 for nonmembers.
