WARREN -- As expected, the city school board has accepted the resignation of Superintendent Bruce W. Thomas and named Loree Richardson interim superintendent.
Thomas resigned, effective July 31, through an email forwarded to Warren City School Board of Education President Regina Patterson. Richardson is to officially take over as interim superintendent Aug. 1. However, the school board also named her superintendent pro tempore so that she can take over the superintendent's duties immediately. In his correspondence to Patterson, Thomas indicated he intends to use vacation and sick days to finish his time in the district.
''We needed (Richardson) to take over immediately because Dr. Thomas indicated he will not be back in the school district and we needed someone to take over his responsibilities right away,'' Patterson explained.
