Many programs have not worked

DEAR EDITOR:

You do not have to be a Democrat or Republican, this is for everyone to read, especially the president and the 535 voting members of the legislature.

The U.S. Postal Service was established in 1775. They have had 237 years to get it right and it is broke. Social Security was established in 1935. They have had 77 years to get it right and it is broke. Fannie Mae was established in 1938. They have had 74 years to get it right and it is broke. War on Poverty started in 1964. They still have not gotten that right and there are still people in this country going hungry and standing in line at the food banks. Medicare and Medicaid were established in 1965. They have had 47 years to get it right and they are broke. Freddie Mac was established in 1970. They have had 42 years to get it right and they are broke.

They, as our leaders, the best and the brightest, most educated people have failed and keep spending our tax dollars and they actually wonder why we do not trust them with our future or our money? And they really want us to believe they can take care of our health care run by the government? They can't seem to help our seniors, our veterans, even the homeless yet they have provided aid to, of all people, Pakistan. I am sure his people are not even seeing any of this money, but Karzai has.

In 2010 alone our government has given them in military assistance $2.5 billion, including $1.2 billion in coalition support funds. What could he possibly want this money for? And he hid bin Laden.

Since 1948 our government has given Pakistan $30 billion. The politicians have dinners at $40,000 a plate one night and $10,000 a plate another night to get people to fund their elections. What are the politicians giving these people in return? Certainly there is no food worth that kind of money. Something is wrong in this way of thinking? In this year of having to elect someone to actually run this country, what is an American to do?
