UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Mahoning Valley Scrappers trailed just 4-2 through seven innings, but the State College Spikes erupted for a five-run bottom of the eighth and went on for a 9-2 victory Saturday night.
Marcus Bradley had two hits for the Scrappers, who finished with eight, but committed three errors.
Mitch Nilsson doubled home Bradley for Mahoning Valley's first run in the first inning, and Erik Gonzalez scored on a throwing error by Ryan Hornback in the sixth for the second run.
The Scrappers conclude their three-game series against State College tonight at 6:05 before they return home to Eastwood Field for a three-game series against Williamsport.
