The engagement and upcoming marriage of Katie A. Filkorn and Phillip R. Bednar are being announced by the bride-elect's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Filkorn of Southington.
Parents of the groom-elect are Mr. and Mrs. Richard Bednar of Munroe Falls.
Miss Filkorn graduated with her bachelor's degree in psychology in 2006 from Kent State University and her master's degree in community counseling from the University of Akron in 2009. She works as a mental health counselor at Akron Children's Hospital.

Mr. Bednar graduated in 2008 from the University of Akron with his bachelor's in marketing management and again in 2010 with his master of business administration. He works as the director of marketing for Tenpoint Crossbow Technologies and the brand manager for Wicked Ridge Crossbows.
The couple will be united in marriage during a wedding ceremony to be held on Nov. 3, 2012, at St. Vincent Church in Akron. Invitations will be issued for the wedding and a reception to follow at Signature of Solon in Solon.
