READING PROGRAM SETS KICKOFF: Akron Children's Hospital will kick off its "Reach Out and Read" program in Warren at noon Friday at the Akron Children's Hospital Pediatrics Warren, 8720 E. Market St., Warren. Special guests will read to patients to launch the literacy program at the Warren office. Members of the hospital's Doggie Brigade Helen Spencer and Lisa Connell will join the celebration with their dogs Lucy and Jack.
Reach Out and Read is a national program dedicated to fostering the development of early literacy skills among children as a standard part of pediatric primary care.
CHAMPION HOLDS COMMUNITY GARAGE SALE: The annual Champion community garage sale days will be held Thursday to July 1. There is no need to get a permit or to register to have a sale during the weekend.
LIBRARY OFFERS WATERCOLOR PAINTING CLASS: Dagmar Amrhein uses many of the art books from the library's collection to learn new techniques and get new ideas for her painting. She will use one of the library's books to actually teach participants to paint a watercolor picture at 4 p.m. Wednesday at the Liberty Library Branch, 415 Churchill Hubbard Road.
