Vets to hold laying of roses

LAYING OF ROSES FOR VETERANS: The Korean War Veterans will hold the "Laying of the Roses" memorial service at 1 p.m. Sunday at South Wycliffe Circle at the KWV Memorial, 4075 Mahoning Ave. The memorial has the names of 1,289 service people killed in action. Each service person's name will be called with a single bell toll and laying of roses in their remembrance.

NATIVE AMERICAN WEEKEND SET AT LAKE: The Friends of the Mosquito Lake Campgrounds will hold a Native American Culture weekend today through Sunday, with events held throughout Saturday by the Red Hawk Society.

FUNDRAISER SET FOR ANNIVERSARY: The Learning Dog Training and Enrichment Center, 757 N. Main St., Hubbard, will celebrate its second anniversary from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, when a fundraiser will be held to help 11 local animal shelters. There will be door prizes, free gifts and refreshments. For information call 330-534-4990.

ARMS MUSEUM HOLDS COMIC CAMP: The Arms Family Museum, 649 Wick Ave., Youngstown, will hold two session of ''The Wonderful World of Comics" summer camp 9:30 a.m. to noon Tuesday to June 29 and July 10 to 13. Children will explore the world of comics. Cost is $30 for members and $40 non-members, To register call 330-743-2589. The Arms hands-on history room is open from 2 to 4 p.m. Wednesdays this summer June 20 to August 15.

AUTHOR TO SPEAK: St. Nicholas Church, 2053 North Road N.E., Warren, will host Robert Krantz, international bestselling author of "Falling in Love with Sophia" at noon Sunday. He will be signing his newest release and share his journey of faith that led him to write books and end up on the international best-sellers list.

Krantz is a writer, producer and actor, and a Greek-American best known for the film "Do You Wanna Dance?" He has acted in numerous movies and television shows, and written screenplays for major motion picture studios.

WATERSHED SCHOOL OFFERED TO CHILDREN: Trumbull Soil and Water Conservation District will hold a two-day Watershed Field School for children ages 9 to 12 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday at Trumbull Agriculture and Family Education Center, 520 W. Main St., Cortland.

Students will take part on hands-on activities while exploring animals, wetland and forestry, and how they are connected to the watershed. There will be site visits to Mosquito Lake State Park and Walnut Run Creek. There will be nature crafts, outdoor games and water quality testing.

ANIMAL SHOW AT LIBRARY: Jungle Terry will present an exotic animal show at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at the Liberty Branch Library, 415 Churchill Hubbard Road.

ZOMBIE PROGRAM FOR TEENS: ''Supernatural Skills 101'' will be offered at 2:30 p.m. today at Lordstown Branch Library, 1471 Salt Springs Road, for children in fifth to 12th grades. The program will include zombies, vampires and werewolves, with supernatural-themed crafts, tricks and snacks. Registration is required by calling 330-824-2094.
