NILES - Rita L. "Lily" Sloban, 82, died Wednesday, June 20, 2012, at Trumbull Memorial Hospital in Warren.
She was born March 5, 1930, in Turtle Creek, Pa., the daughter of Charles and Beatrice Bush Bandy.
Rita was a 1949 graduate of Newton Falls High School, where she was a cheerleader and first attendant to the homecoming queen.

She was employed for four years at A&P Supermarkets as head cashier and cafeteria supervisor for the Howland School System for 25 years, retiring in 1990.
She was a member of Niles First United Methodist Church and the Eastern Star, where she held the offices of chaplain and was appointed a star point for five years.
Rita enjoyed cake decorating, crochet, ceramics and bowling, and was good in short hand. She was also in charge of planning for the yearly Republican dinners at the McKinley Memorial in Niles.
She will be deeply missed by her husband, Theodore J. Sloban Sr., whom she married May 28, 1950; a son, Theodore (Donna) Sloban II of Niles; a daughter, Vickie (David) Candel of Vienna; a son-in-law, Donald Cox of Champion; six grandchildren, Donald (Stephanie) Cox II, Denise (Jeremy) Hoysack, Holly (Eric) Fisher, Abbey (Noah) Bixler, Theodore Sloban III and Rita (Nate) Mitchell; and seven great-grandchildren, Joshua and Samantha Cox, Brendan and Valerie Hoysack, Caitlyn, Giana and Olivia Fisher.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Valerie Cox; a brother, Charles Bandy; and four sisters, Audrey Hickson, Gayle Hunter, Donna Friedman and Phyllis Cunningham.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at The Joseph Rossi and Sons Funeral Home in Niles and 10:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church in Niles. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church in Niles.
Burial will be in Pineview Cemetery.
