CAMPBELL - Virginia Gertrude Staples Gilbert, 91, died Tuesday, June 12, 2012, at her residence.
She was born May 12, 1921, in Clovis, W.Va., the daughter of William E. and Elizabeth Marshall Staples.
Mrs. Gilbert was employed at the former Southside Hospital as a surgical technician.

Survivors include four children, Jeweal Alexander, Vernon "Bubble" Gilbert, Cassandra Benjamin and Chonita Jackson, all of Youngstown; eight grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Shirley John Gilbert; a brother; and two sisters.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. today at Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church, where the family will receive friends one hour prior to services.
Interment will be in Tod Homestead Cemetery.
Arrangements are being handled by J.E. Washington Funeral Services Inc., Youngstown.
