VIENNA - Mary Mills was standing in her yard chatting on the phone Friday evening when she was startled by a noise.
It turned out to be a visit from a black bear to her Cole Road home.

"It was more interested in my bird feeder than it was me," Mills said.
She said she has not seen black bears in her area before, but has read newspaper accounts recently reporting many black bear sightings in the area.
Mills ran into the house to retrieve her camera, and was able to capture the visitor on video through her window as he strolled around the back yard.
Wildlife officials say the recent bear sightings are not unusual because this is the time of year when young male adults are moving away from their mothers and trying to find their own new homes.
In most cases they will eventually move on.
