PALMYRA - Mary Alice Gates, 53, died at 8:45 a.m. March 7, 2012, at her home after a battle with cancer.
She was born Oct. 6, 1958, in Warren, the daughter of the late Harmon H. and Betty Korth Andrews Jr.
Mary was a 1977 graduate of Howland High School and also a 1981 graduate of Kent State University, and she was employed by Akwen LTD.

Mrs. Gates enjoyed making crafts, playing with her pets and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her husband, Carl Gates, whom she married April 17, 1982; and a brother, Harmon (Diane) Andrews III of Howland.
Other than her parents, Mary was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Bishop.
A casual memorial celebration of her life will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday at the National Packard Museum, 1899 Mahoning Ave. N.W., Warren. Following the service, the family will receive friends and a memorial luncheon will be served.
The family requests that material contributions be made to Hospice of the Western Reserve in her memory.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Carl W. Hall Funeral Home.
