WARREN - Firefighter Marc J. Titus, 46, of Warren, was killed in a two-vehicle accident at 11:22 p.m. Thursday, while traveling on state Route 11, at King Graves Road in Fowler Township.
James Black Jr., 49, was driving a 2002 Peterbilt Semi tractor-trailer north on state Route 11 in the right lane when the dump bed trailer he was pulling struck the King Graves Road bridge overpass, overturning. Titus, riding on a 2006 Yamaha Road Star motorcycle, also traveling north on state Route 11, struck the vehicle.
Titus was pronounced dead at the scene.
Black was taken to Trumbull Memorial Hospital by Fowler Township Fire and Rescue with non-life threatening injuries. He remains hospitalized in stable condition.
Titus was not wearing a helmet.
The crash remains under investigation. Titus, a 21-year veteran of the Warren Fire Department, had been the president of the firefighters' union.
