HOWLAND - Richard W. Smith, 51, died at his residence Saturday, June 2, 2012.
Richard was born Dec. 14, 1960, in Warren, the son of Lewis and Alma Palm Smith.
He was a 1979 graduate of Howland High School and a lifelong area resident.
Richard was a steelworker. He enjoyed football and was a Chicago Bears fan. He loved NASCAR and worked in pit crews for stock car events at Sharon Speedway.
Richard leaves behind his mother, Alma Smith of Howland; his daughter, Shauntella Smith of Negley; his aunt, Janet (William) Maffitt of Howland; his best friends, Billy and Trisha Shreve; and several cousins.
Richard's father, Lewis Smith; his son, Re'Shaun Smith; his brothers, Lewis Jr. and Robert Smith; and his grandmother, Pearl Shreves, preceded him in death.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Crown Hill Chapel Mausoleum in Vienna.
Burial will take place at Crown Hill Burial Park.
The family requests that any donations be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, 3300 E. Sunrise Drive, Tucson, AZ 85718.
