WARREN - A Trumbull County couple remained in Trumbull County Jail on Friday following their arrest Wednesday night at a Niles motel where deputies recovered drugs and some of the items stolen in three burglaries staged the same day.
Arrested were Joshua Harris, 27, 820 Jewell-North Road, Newton Falls, and Angela Foft, 27, 6429 state Route 534, West Farmington.
Harris was charged with three counts of burglary. Foft was charged with burglary, theft, criminal trespass and two counts of drug abuse.
Both pleaded not guilty to the charges Thursday in Newton Falls Municipal Court and are due back for a preliminary hearing Tuesday.
Sheriff's Maj. Tom Stewart said the couple was linked to burglaries on Phelps Road and Thompson-Clark Road in Bristol Township and another burglary in Mecca.
''They are suspects in at least five other burglaries,'' Stewart said, mentioning unsolved cases in the areas of Southington, Bloomfield and in Portage County.
The major said Harris has a visible ''spider'' tattoo on the right side of his neck and tattoos on other parts of his body.
Stewart was urging residents in the neighborhoods of recent break-ins or burglaries who saw any suspicious activity to call the Trumbull Sheriff's Office at 330- 675-2504.
Deputies Rick Tackett and Ronald Carr arrested the couple at the Cottage Inn Motel in Niles, where heroin and other items were recovered. Two others at the motel were released after questioning, Stewart said.
Stewart also said mostly jewelry, TVs, and weapons were stolen in the burglaries. He said some other stolen items were recovered from pawn shops and gold brokers.
