The city will be alive with music this summer as the McKinley Memorial Library and Shepherd of the Valley prepare for their annual lawn concert series.
Concerts at the McKinley Memorial begin at 7 p.m. and are scheduled as follows:
June 21: Teez (rock)
June 28: Dixie Dandies/Girard Community Band (Dixieland)
July 5: Following June (soft rock)
July 12: Guys Without Ties (classic rock)
July 19: Don Burns Orchestra (Big Band)
July 26: Damian Knapp featuring Fester Presley & Testify (classic blues with Stevie Ray Vaughan tribute)
Aug. 2: Cortland Community Band (big band/classical/broadway)
Aug.t 9: Gleann mor' Pipe Band (Highland bagpipes) and Rose & Thistle (Irish music)
The Friends of the Library will host its summer lawn picnic July 12 on the library grounds prior to the concert.
In addition to the library concerts, Shepherd of the Valley Niles also will provide summer lawn concerts each month at the facility at 1500 McKinley Ave. The schedule includes:
June 21: 7 p.m., The Jim Frank Trio.
July 12: 6:30 p.m., An Evening in Vegas featuring Stephen Medovich with music from The Rat Pack and Ronnie Navarro: A Tribute to Elvis
Aug. 8: The Girard Swing Band
The public is invited to bring lawn chairs or a blanket to sit on the lawn and enjoy the music. There is no charge to attend the concerts.
