African-American Achievers fest Friday

WARREN - The Trumbull County African-American Achievers Festival will be held from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday on Courthouse Square.

The festival will include African-American culture and heritage, gospel music, carnival rides, games, arts and crafts, entertainment and food.

Tribune sets plans for anniversary festival

WARREN - The Tribune Chronicle, a direct offspring of the first newspaper published 200 years ago in the Western Reserve, is preparing to celebrate the bicentennial anniversary, in part, with a founders celebration June 8 and 9 in Warren's Courthouse Square Park.

The event will exhibit the dress, food, entertainment and daily life of the early settlers of our region. It will include demonstrations, entertainment, children's games and character portrayals from the period.

Any local group or entertainer representing the 200-year time period who would like to be be considered as a festival participant is invited to contact Tribune Chronicle events coordinator Sue Shafer at 330-841-1696, or sshafer@tribtoday.com.
