The engagement and upcoming marriage of Abagail Letson and Nicholas Shaffer are being announced by the couple's parents, Daniel and Sharon Letson of Warren, and Nicholas and Sharon Shaffer of Erie, Pa.
Miss Letson graduated from John F. Kennedy High School in 2004 and from Mercyhurst College in 2008 with a degree in communications with a public relations concentration. She is employed as a sales-retention specialist for the Erie Times News.
A 2004 graduate of Mercyhurst Preparatory School, the groom-elect received his bachelor degree of business management from Mercyhurst College. He is employed as a sales technician for Specialty Products Inc., a family-owned business.

The couple are planning a Sept. 1, 2012, wedding ceremony to be held at St. Luke Catholic Church in Erie. Invitations will be issued for the ceremony and a reception to follow at the Bayfront Convention Center.
