Crews were called shortly after 6:30 p.m. Thursday to the former Kundel Industries Building, 292 Forest St. N.W, for an intentionally set fire in the northwest corner of the industrial building, according to a report. That corner of the building suffered heavy fire and smoke damage. The loss is estimated at about $80,000. No one was injured. The cause is being investigated. Manufactured there at one time were portable walls used to prevent the sides of trenches from caving in during underground projects, such as storm sewers and waterlines. A woman whose boyfriend lives across the street from the building said it has been closed for about 10 years.
