DEAR EDITOR:
This is a response to Alfred Spencer's letter, printed April 29. It seems to be that for the past 40 years anytime someone, Republican, Independent, man in the moon, objects to any liberal agenda that they are labeled as a racist, not true.
This has nothing to do with the color of President Obama's skin and everything to do with his nanny state policies. Are you better off financially than you were four years ago? Economics does not recognize skin tone. The economy reacts to the policies coming out of Washington, D.C.
Obamacare is at the Supreme Court because it is a violation of the Constitution, not because it was ushered in by a Democratic Congress, a Democratic Senate, and an African American president in spite of the overwhelming objection of the American people.
As far as gridlock in D.C., at last count there were 39 bills passed by the House of Representatives and sent on to the Senate, controlled by the Democrats and Harry Reid, that have languished there. It's the same Senate that has failed to write a budget for the past four years, despite a government mandate that they do so. Obstructionism, not racism.
More than 40 percent of the American people pay zero taxes, zero. We the people who do pay taxes realize that this is unsustainable. We can't afford the policies of this president. Forty cents of every dollar spent by this president is borrowed from China. Once again, policies, not racism.
In conclusion, yes, I am white. I have two nephews and a niece that are bi-racial. My nephew John is a decorated Iraq war veteran with a Purple Heart. I love them all very much, so stop beating this racism drum and call it what it is: failed socialistic policies.
