SHEPHERD CELEBRATES 40 YEARS: Shepherd of the Valley kicks off a summer of celebrations with a 40th anniversary open house from 1 to 4 p.m. May 20 at Shepherd's flagship location in Niles, 1500 McKinley Ave.

COPELAND OAKS BOOK SALE: The Copeland Oaks Retirement Community's semi-annual book sale on May 19 will offer a wide variety of books and media for those interested with all proceeds benefitting the Copeland Oaks library. The book sale, a resident favorite, will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Bennett Auditorium.
In addition to the book sale, nurses from Crandall Medical Center have arranged a bake sale in the auditorium for the duration of the event.
MOBILE MEALS HAS OPENINGS: Trumbull Mobile Meals has immediate openings on most of its delivery routes for clients who need home-delivered meals. There is no waiting list. One or two nutritious meals are delivered directly to private homes for individuals exhibiting a qualified need. Meal service plans are designed to meet each individual's needs.
In addition, volunteer drivers are needed to help deliver meals. There is an urgent need for Girard, Niles and Warren route drivers. Anyone who can donate an hour or so once a week or even once a month is invited to call Mobile Meals at 330-394-2538.

Starting May 19, the center will offer free glucose, cholesterol and blood pressure screenings from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. every third Friday of the month. A 12-hour fast is recommended but not mandatory. The screenings are open to the public for senior citizens age 50 and older. There is no need to sign up.
