Robert B. Williams Jr. 1921-2012

LIBERTY - Robert B. Williams Jr., 90, passed away Wednesday, May 2, 2012, at Liberty Health Care.

Robert was born June 5, 1921, in Meadville, Pa., the son of Robert B. Sr. and Pearl Walls Williams, and came to Vienna and later to Liberty in 1967.

He was a 1939 graduate of Vienna High School. He attended Youngstown College, Kent State University, University of Missouri, and served a four year apprenticeship in the machinist trade. He received from the state of Ohio his Vocational Teaching Certificate in industrial machine work in 1953.

He worked at Youngstown Sheet & Tube as a supervisor of the motive power department for 41 years, retiring in 1980.

Mr. Williams was a member of Church Hill United Methodist Church, United Methodist Men and TFG Sunday school class.

He also was a member of National Management Association, Mahoning Valley Industrial Association, Mercer County Genealogy, Mahoning County Genealogy, American Legion and Mahoning County Garden Club.

Mr. Williams was a veteran of the United States Army Air Forces serving during World War II, and for 41 months was an air crew gunnery instructor.

His wife, the former Florence L. Miller, whom he married May 5, 1951, passed away Nov. 25, 2010.

He is survived by his daughters, Myrna L. (Timothy) Adaway of Midland, Mich., Margaret "Maggie" A. Williams of Akron, Karen E. (John) Tester of Warren, six grandchildren and a great-granddaughter. He also leaves his brother Grant C. Williams of Mooresville, N.C.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife; his brother, Richard T. Williams; and his sister, Betty B. McMahon.

Calling hours will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at Church Hill United Methodist Church. Funeral services will follow immediately afterwards.

Burial will be at Vienna Township Cemetery with full military honors provided by Trumbull County American Legion Honor Guard Post 540.
