HMHP OFFERS SLIMDOWN PROGRAM: Humility of Mary Health Partners registered dietitians will offer another SlimDown program in early May SlimDown is a six-week adult weight management program taught by registered dietitians who are certified in weight management.
Classes are held 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesdays, May 1 to June 5 at St. Joe's at the Mall, Eastwood Mall (behind Sears); Wednesdays, May 2 to June 6 at St. Elizabeth Health Center, Youngstown and Thursdays, May 3 to June 7 at St. Elizabeth Boardman Health Center.
Cost is $40 for new participants and $20 for repeat participants. Dietitians teach lifestyle changes in food, activities and behaviors.

BETTER LIVING WITH ARTHRITIS PROGRAM OFFERED BY TMH AND ARTHRITIS FOUNDATION: Trumbull Memorial Hospital and the Arthritis Foundation, Great Lakes Region, Northeastern Ohio, are co-sponsoring Better Living with Arthritis, a free community seminar to raise awareness, to educate and to improve the lives of those with arthritis. The program will provide the latest news about arthritis and treatment options. Presentations include new advances in knee replacement surgery; updates in rheumatoid arthritis; shoulder arthritis and total shoulder replacement; "Spinal arthritis: Less surgery is more;" what's new at TMH; and "Take Control - We Can Help." The seminar also features exhibits, an AF exercise program demonstration, educational information and door prizes. Lunch will be provided.

VALLEY COUNSELING TO HOST ANNUAL BANQUET: Valley Counseling Services, along with Valley Community Mental Health Foundation, will host its fifth annual Hall of Fame banquet on Wednesday at Ciminero's Banquet Center in Niles. This event honors those who work with special needs students. An award also is given to a student who is exceeding in the classroom despite their special needs.
Nominations are currently being accepted for a Teacher of the Year, Rookie Teacher of the Year, Educational Assistant of the Year and Special Student. OSTOMY SUPPORT GROUP TO MEET: The Youngstown Area Ostomy Support Group, sponsored by Humility of Mary Health Partners, will meet from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. May 8 at the HM Home Care office, 979 Tibbetts-Wick Road, Girard.
The group provides information and encouragement to individuals who have or will have ostomies.

HUMAN HEARTS DISPLAYED FOR HEART DAY: A display of human hearts will be among the informative and educational exhibits showcased during Woman's Heart Day, a free health and wellness extravaganza provided by Humility of Mary Health Partners.
Provided as a service to the community, Woman's Heart Day is slated for 6:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 10, at the Covelli Centre. This annual event features free health screenings, fitness demonstrations, educational presentations on a variety of women's health issues, cooking demonstrations, refreshments and giveaways.
The display of human hearts will be included as part of Dr. Carmen Julius' presentation, "Fearfully and Wonderfully Made: The Heart of the Matter."
Julius will deliver his hour-long address at 8:30 a.m. Other speakers on the day's agenda are Lauren Manusakis, who will discuss the benefits of organic foods at 7:45 a.m.; Jill Fabian, who will discuss women and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) at 9:45 a.m.; Dr. Darrell Grace, who will discuss hypertension at 10:30 a.m.; and Jesse McClain, who will discuss women and stroke at 11:15 a.m.
Free health screenings offered this year include bone density, lipid panel (cholesterol) and glucose testing, arterial disease assessments, blood pressure readings, vision screenings, body fat measurements and health age assessments.
