Jack P. Conway 1925-2012

NILES - Jack P. Conway, 87, died at 5:05 a.m. Sunday, April 29, 2012, at St. Elizabeth Health Center following a short illness.

He was born Feb. 15, 1925, in Connellsville, Pa., the son of Samuel P. and Marie Elizabeth Anderson Conway.

A United States Navy veteran of World War II, he honorably served in the Atlantic and Pacific as a Gunners Mate 3rd Class. He served on the SS Alexander Lillington, SS Alcoa Leader and the USS Boston.

Upon his Navy discharge, he worked for 36 years as a fabricator at Republic Steel and later LTV Steel where he retired in 1986.

An avid golfer, he was also a master wood carver.

Jack is survived by his wife of 64 years, Betty J. Conway, whom he married April 2, 1948; two sons, J. Scott (Joyce) Conway of Columbus, Mark D. Conway of Marco Island, Fla.; two step-grandchildren; four great-stepgrandchildren; brother, Robert Conway of Philadelphia, Pa.; sister, Betty Ann Mortimore of Latrobe, Pa.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Conway, and sister, Margaret Murphy.

Calling Hours will be 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. The Rev. Curtis Miller of the New Hope Methodist Church will officiate.

Burial will be in Pineview Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the Trumbull County Honor Guard.
