GIRARD - Charles W. Martin Sr., 68, died at 11:49 p.m. Monday, April 23, 2012, at Northside Medical Center in Youngstown.
He was born Jan. 3, 1944, in Youngstown, the son of Isabelle Akins Martin and the stepson of Henry Martin.
He was a 1962 graduate of Lakeview High School and employed for 32 years at Packard Electric in the molds department and as a union representative, retiring in 2002.
Chuck was a member of the Niles Army Navy Garrison Post 252, where he served as paymaster, and enjoyed golfing, pool and playing cards with the Palmers.
He was also a U.S. Naval veteran for four years during the Vietnam War, and also served for 20 years with the Air Force Reserves at the Youngstown Air Reserve Station, having been activated during the first Gulf War.
Chuck, who always thought his grandchildren were his world, will be deeply missed by his wife, Vivian Martin Martin, whom he married July 5, 1996; two sons, Charles W. (Tracy) Martin Jr. of Niles and Thomas (Christina) Mostoller of Nome, Alaska; two daughters, Lori Martin of Warren and Diana Mostoller of Howland; two brothers, Henry Martin and Dennis (Susan) Martin, both of Florida; and seven grandchildren, Cara, Grant, Sarah, Gabrielle, Maci, Ethan and Davion.
He was preceded in death by his parents and stepfather.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Joseph Rossi and Sons Funeral Home in Niles.
Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Joseph Rossi and Sons Funeral Home in Niles, with Pastor John Preusser officiating. Chuck will be honored for his military service by the Niles Army Navy Garrison Post 252 Honor Guard immediately following the conclusion of the service.
Burial will be in Kerr Cemetery.
