Three sets of eyebrows in the room rose, evaluating the strange duo. After that, a couple things happened quickly:
"What's that over there?!" The brunette yelled, pointing behind us. Destiny, the blonde, and Brody all looked, but Brody and Melody realized it was a trick when the brunette made a break for it out the back. Brody causally tripped her, bringing the attention back to the conflict. Melody sighed at the oddness of the situation, putting one of her guns to the brunette's head.
"State your name."
"Well, you would have heard of my by the name Z. The blonde is Brie, and we're captains as you can probably tell. Before you question us any further, I just want you to know that after tonight, we aren't captains anymore."
That piqued Brody's interest. Captains for the Lies were captains for life; they only got let go if they had betrayed the organization. These girls had to be traitors!
"We sent those men that you probably killed to lead to you here, so we could give you information. Let's just say that we discovered some not-so-great facts about being in the organization and we wanted out. So, we got you here, and now you're going to torture us for information, which we'll give too willingly, and if you let us live, we'll be executed by the Lies, and if you kill us, we're still dead."
Strangely enough, the three siblings all had the same revelation: this girl was NOT lying. Every word that came out of her mouth dripped with scorn and sadness, but not one was laced with the poison of a lie. A tear rolled down her cheek, causing her blonde friend's lip to tremble slightly.
"It's all right, Z. At least we'll have died doing the right thing. Your sister would be so proud of you."
Moved, Brody put his hands on Z's shoulders, hoping that while she couldn't feel it, some comfort would come to her. Melody dropped her gun and crouched down to Z's level.
"Just tell us everything, and maybe we can help you. We do not leave friends to die."
A smile flickered across her face, her eyes scanning the room as if searching for the man they knew as William. Sniffling, Z pulled a piece of paper out of her jacked pocket, placing it in Melody's outstretched hand.
"That's everything you need to know. There's a map of every base this side of the country, a map of the capital, where all of our weapon stores are, as well as every person you're going to need to kill to accomplish your mission. We would have provided more had we had more time, but from what we've heard, you guys are creative, so hopefully that's enough."
Destiny took the paper from Melody, scanning it into her planner device. It beeped, and Destiny put the paper in an oil lamp burning nearby. In a matter of 30 seconds, it no longer existed. She crossed over to the blonde, shaking her hand. So as to avoid the inevitable death that would reach them on their current path, Brody lightly pulled the two into a teleport, putting them on the other side of the country with a single word:
"Live."
