Time for people to take control

DEAR EDITOR:

A while back I wrote how I would trust a farmer, a truck driver or almost anyone without a college degree because they at least have a work ethic. We are at a crossroads in this Republic.

Will we allow the socialist progressives to destroy the free market and liberty or will we true Americans come up with real solutions that will return the government to its pre-progressive era levels? It is amazing how the current so-called educators have produced the ignorance demonstrated by the OWS protesters, ignorance levels that the progressive socialist only hoped for back in the late 1840s and now thrive on.

My son does odd jobs for a farmer up the road from our house, a real nice gentleman who runs an organic operation.

When my son finished his work, we sat down in the now-unused milk house and discussed some of the major problems with the current administrations. The federal government has tripled the debt, has total disregard for constitutional law and doubled fuel prices, not to mention the extra cost added by burdensome and, for the most part, unnecessary EPA regulations to trucking and farming operations since 2008. Candidates who can prevent this further don't appear to be an option. He brought up a very interesting proposal that could just be the key to saving our great republic.

The following has been proposed: A referendum that would limit the maximum contribution by any PAC, organization, group or individual to $5 or $10 to any political candidate, also term limits for all congressional seats, two terms for senators and four terms for House members. Another provision of this referendum would limit the amount any candidate could loan their own campaign to $500 to $1,000. Along with ideas like GOOOH (Get Out of Our House, a non-partisan a non-partisan plan to evict career politicians) we can undo the damage of progressive revisionist history and limit the power of all elected representatives.

This would immediately end lobbyist and lobbying of politicians by special interests, allowing the common man to hold the positions in the House of Representatives as was the intentions of our founders. Also, the financial limits would pretty much put an end to major contributions from special interests and parties with less than ethical agendas. The new term limits would allow for an end to legislators making a lifelong career out of these positions and assure that the will of the people is truly being implemented; the financial limit would allow like-minded candidates a chance to fill these seats without having to be millionaires to do so.

Wall Street and big business would be powerless to influence politicians. The unions, super PACS and lobbyist will no longer be able to buy an election or issue. The false prophesies of social anything and class warfare that have been taught in schools across this country can be replaced by teachings of how to be the statesmen, craftsmen and citizens that we are supposed to be. The federal and state governments will be bound by the very documents that they now disregard. We the people can return to the industrious and inventive people that built the world we now live in.
