Judith Pippenger of Warren is announcing the engagement and approaching marriage of her daughter, Nora L. McCaslin, to John J. Alastra. The bride-elect is also the daughter of the late Courtney McCaslin, and stepdaughter of the late Ted Pippenger.
Parents of the groom-elect are Anthony J. Alastra and Carmela Alastra of Columbus.
Ms. McCaslin is a 1990 graduate of Cortland Lakeview High School and a 1994 graduate of Ohio Wesleyan University. She is a fifth-grade teacher in Delaware, Ohio.

Mr. Alastra is a 1993 graduate of Thomas Worthington High School in Worthington, a 1997 graduate of John Carroll University and a 2001 graduate of Capital University Law School in Columbus. He is an attorney in Columbus.
The couple will be married during a wedding ceremony to be held Oct. 20, 2012, at St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Delaware, Ohio. Invitations will be issued for a reception to follow Villa Milano Reception and Banquet Center in Columbus.
