DEAR EDITOR:
Here is a newsflash: The Republicans are attacking the women of America.
It's a brilliant strategic move by Democrats to focus the conversation on women's health and contraception and away from the serious issues facing our country. It's amusing and disgusting at the same time.
You have Mrs. Sherrod Brown, aka Connie Shultz, equating the unspeakable atrocities being committed by Muslim terrorists in the Congo and Sudan against women and children to the fight for women's reproductive rights in America. How does a well thinking person do that?
You have former Gov. Ted Strickland at a recent dinner calling out men to defend women against those mean Republicans. If Ted Strickland and Barack Obama are so concerned with women's health issues, i.e. contraception, abortion, etc., then let's transfer the burden and responsibility of birth control over to the men of America. What a concept.
There is a safe and simple procedure called vasectomy - problems solved. Absent that, the president could sign another executive order requiring all males to now be responsible for contraception.
The shameless trotting out of a Georgetown law student / activist Sandra Fluke to publicly whine about the high cost of her birth control pills is outrageous. Ms. Flucke and others can visit their friendly neighborhood Planned Parenthood offices and receive free birth control pills. The abortion pill or morning-after pill is available over the counter at your local pharmacy.
Democrats have found the winning formula for taking the conversation away from Obamacare, the economy, jobs and energy. Who knew the No. 1 topic concerning Americans in 2012 was contraception? It's up to every decent American who cares about the future of this country, regardless of party affiliation to keep the conversation on one thing and one thing only - squarely on Barack Obama and his abysmal record.
