WARREN - Zygmunt "Ziggy" F. Sowa, 78, entered peacefully into rest at 2:10 p.m. Monday, March 26, 2012, at the Renaissance North Health Care Center in Warren following a lengthy illness.
Ziggy was born Dec. 1, 1933, in Grabow, Poland, the son of the late Joseph and Maria Matenka Sowa, and had resided in Warren since 1951, moving here from Poland.
He was employed with the Copperweld Steel Corporation for 43 years as a metallurgist, retiring from his duties in 1998.
Ziggy enjoyed snow skiing, painting, traveling and the outdooors.
On May 12, 1956, Zygmunt was united into marriage with the former Dorothy A. Bokros and they shared 55 loving years together.
His memory will be remembered and cherished by those he leaves behind, his wife, Dorothy A. Sowa of Warren; a son, Alan J. (Doreen) Sowa of Port Charlotte, Fla.; a daughter, Dawnamarie (Jay) Bowman of Warren; four grandchildren, Benjamin (Amber) Sowa, Daniel (Diamond) Bowman, Brianne (Robi) Vali and Marissa Bowman; and three great-grandchildren, Honesti, Aziah and Alyssa.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Walter Sowa; and stepfather, Edward Makowski.
A memorial service will be held at 5:30 p.m. Friday at the Kingdom Hall of the Jehovah Witnesses, 1963 Ewalt Street N.E., Warren, Ohio, where a family gathering will be from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall, with speaker Jay Jeffco.
