Ronald A. Bowser 1941-2012

NILES - Ronald A. Bowser, 70, died Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at his residence.

He was born Sept. 16, 1941, in Kittanning, Pa., the son of Herman ''Harry'' and Bertha Brown Bowser.

In 1960, Ron enlisted in the United States Army under the ''Buddy Plan.'' While enlisted, he received two commendations as an expert in mortar as well as an expert rifleman. He was honorably discharged in 1963 and has since remained a proud veteran.

He was employed as a slitter operator at J&L Steel in Niles until 1977 when he transferred to their plant in Louisville, and then retired in 1994.

Ron enjoyed golfing, was an avid Cleveland Browns, Ohio State Buckeyes and Niles McKinley Red Dragon football fan.

On May 22, 1965, he married his wife of 31 years, Delnora Stevens Bowser.

He will be deeply missed by his three sons, James Bowser and his wife, Cristine of Mineral Ridge, Robert Bowser and his wife, Tina of Niles, and Gregory Bowser of Kentucky; four grandchildren, Presley, Rachel, Justin and Summer; his mother of Ocala, Fla.; and three sisters, Nancy Sparks and her husband, Sherman of Kentucky, Peggy Campbell and her husband, John of Florida, and Martha Allen of Champion.

He was preceded in death by his father, Harry; and his wife, Delnora, who died Nov. 14, 1996.

Funeral services will be held noon Monday at the Kerr Cemetery Chapel with the Rev. James Baer officiating.

Burial will be in Kerr Cemetery, where Ronald will be honored for his military service by the Trumbull County American Legion Honor Guard.
