Trumbull Mobile Meals is participating in the national March for Meals campaign with a walking event to be held Saturday at the Eastwood Mall.
To begin the campaign, collection canisters have been placed in businesses throughout Trumbull County since March 1 to collect money for the Trumbull Mobile Meals program.
Registration for the walk will be be held from 7:45 to 8:15 a.m. Participants can walk anytime from 7:45 to 9:15. Awards for the top money-raisers will begin at 9:15 a.m.
The person who raises the most money will receive a $100 Eastwood Mall gift card. Second place will receive a $75 gift card and third place will receive a $50 gift card. All participants will be eligible for a door prize drawing to be held at the conclusion of the walk.
This year's March for Meals campaign also will celebrate the 40th anniversary of the senior nutrition programs in the Older Americans Act.
''In this tough economy, the food and human contact we provide to individuals in this community is needed more than ever,'' said Sandra Mathews, CEO of Trumbull Mobile Meals.
Individuals or groups who would like to participate can call the TMM office at 330-394-2538 for a sponsor sheet or simply show up at the Eastwood Mall on Saturday to walk.
