Howland vs. Hudson

PLACE: Akron Ellet High School.
RECORDS: Howland 21-1; Hudson 18-4.
NOTES: The winner plays either Twinsburg or Walsh Jesuit in the district final at 1 p.m. on Saturday. Howland had a satisfying victory in its sectional final, beating rival Warren G. Harding for the second time this season. The Tigers' trio of Taylor Williams, Erika Nites and Olivia Nicholas powered them over Harding and will look to do the same against Hudson. The Explorers dominated Nordonia and Stow-Munroe Falls by a combined 44 points in their first two tournament games. They average 63.5 points per game and are led by Hannah Boesiner (14.4 points per game) and Laura Mummey (13.7).
Division II
Lakeview vs. Geneva
TIME: 6, tonight.
PLACE: Pymatuning Valley High School.
RECORDS: Lakeview 18-4; Geneva 19-2.
NOTES: Either Chagrin Falls or Mentor Lake Catholic plays the winner of this game. The district final will be Saturday at 2 p.m. Ali Gagne not only made the game-winning shot in Lakeview's sectional final victory over Perry, she also became the Bulldogs' all-time leading scorer. She finished with a game-high 32 points. Geneva advances to the district semifinal with a 45-41 victory over Conneaut.
Poland vs. West Branch
TIME: 6, tonight.
PLACE: Austintown Fitch High School.
RECORDS: Poland 13-8; West Branch 20-2.
NOTES: Poland jumped out to a 22-9 halftime lead and cruised to a 40-30 upset over Struthers in its sectional final. The Wildcats entered the game with a 19-2 record. Poland is seeking its first district finals appearance since 2003. West Branch has rolled over its two prior tournament foes (Hubbard and Cardinal Mooney) by a combined 57 points. The Warriors have won 17 of their last 18 games.
Canfield vs. Ravenna
TIME: 7:30, tonight.
PLACE: Austintown Fitch High School.
RECORDS: Canfield 15-7; Ravenna 22-0.
NOTES: After a narrow victory over Streetsboro in its first tournament game, Canfield rolled to a 61-29 rout of Southeast in its sectional final. Undefeated Ravenna has won its games by an average of 23 points per game this season. The Ravens' leading scorers are Malorie Gibson (13.3 points per game) and Diandra Gibson (12.3).
Division III
Ursuline vs. South Range
TIME: 6, tonight.
PLACE: Mineral Ridge High School.
RECORDS: Ursuline 14-7; South Range 14-8.
NOTES: Ursuline routed LaBrae 58-26 in its sectional final. The Irish led 31-9 at halftime and were never threatened. Briana Curd, Courtney Powell and Aurielle Irizarry combined for 41 points. After South Range easily defeated Grand Valley in its sectional semifinal, the Raiders upended Newton Falls 62-53 in the sectional final.
Pymatuning Valley vs. United
TIME: 7:30, tonight.
PLACE: Mineral Ridge High School.
RECORDS: Pymatuning Valley 19-3; United 19-2.
NOTES: After rallying for a 29-28 win over Springfield in its first tournament game, Pymatuning Valley held on for a 56-49 victory over Girard in the sectional final. The Lakers led 34-13 in the third quarter before the Indians went on a 17-0 run to make PV sweat for than it wanted to. United earned a 41-36 victory over Brookfield in a sectional final. The Golden Eagles led 24-13 at halftime before holding off a Brookfield rally. United forced 28 turnovers.
Division IV
Maplewood vs. Windham
TIME: 6, tonight.
PLACE: Rootstown High School.
RECORDS: Maplewood 18-3; Windham 14-7.
NOTES: Maplewood surrendered just three field goals in a 52-17 rout of Ledgemont in a sectional final. Brooke Dawson had 16 points and 10 rebounds for the Rockets and Ryley Urchek had eight of Maplewood's 22 steals. Freshmen Jessica Isler and Darrie Heller combined for 49 points in a 64-49 win over Fairport Harbor. Isler scored 25 points and Heller set her career high with 24.
John F. Kennedy vs. Badger
TIME: 7:30, tonight.
PLACE: Rootstown High School.
RECORDS: Kennedy, 14-8; Badger, 10-12.
NOTES: Kennedy nearly let a 28-16 halftime lead slip away against Lordstown in the sectional final. The Eagles' advantage was reduced to 30-28 before they were able to regain control in a 48-39 victory. The third time was a charm for Badger, as the Braves lost twice to Bristol in the regular season but gained revenge in a 65-38 blowout in the sectional final. Sarah Bonar had a game-high 24 points for Badger.
