WARREN - Joan Elaine Dean, 71, died Saturday, Feb. 25, 2012, at St. Joseph Health Center following an extended illness.
Mrs. Dean was born Oct. 25, 1940, in Warren, the daughter of Helen A. Cross Yarnell and John "Jack" B. Yarnell.
She was a graduate of Warren G. Harding High School, Class of 1958.
She worked for several years as a librarian for the Warren City School system and for many years as a caretaker to family and friends. She enjoyed the arts, theatre, books and her many pets.
Joan is survived by her daughter, Theresa, of Lakewood.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Melvin W. Dean; her parents; and a sister and brother, Mary Wolfe and Donald Clinefelter.
In keeping with her wishes, there will be no services at this time. A gathering to celebrate her life will be arranged at a later date.
The family asks that material donations in Joan's name be made to the Animal Welfare League of Trumbull County, 545 Brunstetter Road S.W., Warren, Ohio 44481-9600.
