HOWLAND 50, KENT ROOSEVELT 47: ALLIANCE - Zack Brett's 25-foot buzzer-beating 3 fell short as Howland held off the Rough Riders in this Division I sectional semifinal at Alliance High School. Howland (14-7) held Kent Roosevelt (13-8) at bay by about five to six points most of the game, but the Rough Riders did take a shortlived advantage with 3 minutes remaining. Howland then extended the game to six, but Kent Roosevelt then cut the game to 3 heading into final seconds where Brett's 3-pointer went awry. Brett led the Rough Riders with 13 points, while Bruce Thomas added 12. Howland's Chris Maze paced the Tigers with 16 points, Brendan Cope added 14, while Arbie Murray added 10. Fourth-seeded Youngstown East plays Howland on Friday in a sectional final, starting at 6 p.m.

KENNEDY 66, BLOOMFIELD 41: WARREN - Kennedy jumped out to a 33-18 halftime lead and cruised in this Division IV sectional semifinal at Warren G. Harding High School. Robert Seger led the Eagles (6-15) with 15 points and Chandler Diles scored 12. Chris Whitman led all players with 27 points for Bloomfield. Kennedy advances to play Maplewood in a sectional final Saturday at 6 p.m.

LOWELLVILLE 29, WESTERN RESERVE 26: STRUTHERS - Lowellville trailed 21-19 through three quarters but rallied to win this Division IV sectional semifinal. David Wilaj led the Rockets (10-11) with nine points. Spiro Schialdone scored all four of his points in the fourth quarter. Thomas Benyo paced the Blue Devils (11-10) with nine points. Lowellville advances to play Southern Local Friday at 6 p.m. in a sectional final.

MOONEY 46, HUBBARD 37: BOARDMAN - Mooney led 14-12 at halftime, then outscored Hubbard 32-25 in the final two quarters in this Division II sectional semifinal. P.J. Quinn led the Cardinals (7-14) with 12 points and Doug Caputo scored nine. Nick Shelton paced Hubbard (4-17) with 13 points and Kirby Knutson had 10.
